The Staff Engineer will be responsible for technical leadership in product design, research and development and manufacturing activities to support the commercialization of new products and line extensions.

Summary/Purpose of Position

The Staff Engineer will be responsible for technical leadership in product design, research and development activities to support the commercialization of new products and line extensions.

Essential Duties and Position Responsibilities

Support new product team design activities including:

  • Provide technical leadership user needs identification and assessment, idea generation, concept development, product design, design control documentation and compliance.

  • Develop and drive the technical project plans and schedules Lead technical design reviews and assess design for manufacturability.

Able to plan, coordinate and manage all technical activities associated with Regulatory Submissions, Verification and Validation commercialization and launch of new products including:

  • Conceptualization and development of prototypes, test methods and processes.

  • Coordination of all in-vitro bench studies, engineering labs, formative labs, Human Factors and Design Validation labs.

  • Development and release of all product specifications and documentation.

  • Planning, ordering and management of component inventory to support efficient product development.

  • Developing, executing, analyzing and writing reports for pre- V&V protocols.

  • Developing new product cost estimates and conducting Design and Technical Reviews as prescribed in the Product Development Plan/Process.

  • Plan, coordinate and manage all technical knowledge transfer from R&D to Advance manufacturing.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required

  • BS degree in Engineering required (mechanical, chemical, biomedical or equivalent)

  • Minimum eight (8) years experience or MS degree with minimum six (6) years experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency with user needs identification and assessment, product design, 3D Modeling, prototyping, FEA and Design for Manufacturability.

  • High level of written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to conceptualize ideas, motivate and focus individuals and teams and drive projects through completion on time and on budget

  • Ability to travel up to 30%

  • Understanding of GMPs and medical device regulations.
