About the role
In this newly created role, you join the UK & Ireland (UK&I) Leadership team and the EMEA Medical affairs organization and contribute to the value maximization of current and future Medical Affairs people, processes and product portfolio. You will cover the full BD product portfolio.
You conceptualize, develop and implement Clinical and Medical Affairs strategies and programs in the UK&I region. The role has oversight on all medical activities in the UK&I region, including IISs, scientific relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), promotional and educational activities and materials.
Sense clinical, innovation and health economics trends within UK&I and translate these into insights and strategies for BD
Establish positive relationships with key medical authorities and institutions
Engage with existing HCP and professional groups having insights and values of strategic relevance to BD
Act as primary contact in UK&I for medical and scientific questions for both new and existing products in BD portfolio
Review and approve regionally focused external communications
Address serious product or patient safety issues affecting multiple business units by direct intervention with involved HCPs as well as within BD processes
Assist with legislative, market access and reimbursement efforts, both at national and local levels
Organize regional and international congresses, workshops, advisory boards, etc. with influential HCPs to exchange insights, help map out BD strategy and advance the clinical areas related to BD activities
Develop UK&I Evidence Generation strategy in collaboration with Central Medical Affairs function, BUs and UK&I leadership
Achieve broad external exposure for BD generated evidence
Partner with Business Development for evaluating licensing opportunities
We are looking for a strong professional with in-depth knowledge of clinical and regulatory requirements in a multi-layer medical organization, including field-based medical teams. You are knowledgeable in the areas of regulatory, commercial and clinical issues affecting the pharmaceutical /medical device and biotech industry. We will consider academic applicants, with clinical experience and interactions with industry (clinical trials, Advisory Boards, presentations, etc.). Due to the requirements of the role and the product portfolio, we require a degree or qualification as a Medical Doctor.
You have proven a keen eye for business and critical thinking skills to identify unmet clinical needs, evaluate product opportunities and help develop strategies that leads to efficient development of these opportunities. You have worked with commercial teams in UK&I and have proven your ability to set a medical direction.
Other attributes include:
Experience of market access challenges, and of the payer landscape
Clinical trial experience with solid knowledge of Good Clinical Practice
Ideally, you are well-networked with KOLs in areas of BD activities
Willingness to travel up to 30% of time. We are offering flexibility to work remotely, with visits to our UK&I head office in Winnersh about once every 2 weeks.
