Job Description Summary
The Field Application Scientist is part of the Scientific Application Support Organization reporting to the Director Scientific Application and Support. The Field Application Scientist in Europe will be dedicated to focus on key accounts within the Pharma/Biotech segment but also on key research projects in academia. The person filling this position will work in close collaboration with the European Single Cell Architects team focusing on pre- and post sales tasks and and carries an expectation of 50% travel, predominantly within Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and in the UK.
Ideal candidates will reside in Central Europe or in the UK.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Work with Single Cell Solution Architects and relevant sales representatives to provide pre-sales support where required, for webinars/seminars and customer interactions.
Provide and lead post-sales support such as technical consultations via remote sessions (telephone, email, video conferences) and on-site visits.
Establish strong scientific partnership with the customer and consult with them to implement and optimize relevant workflows. This may require repeated onsite visits to support the project and ensure agreed milestones are reached.
Work with local FAS partners within each of the associated customer sites and co-ordinate FAS technical training and troubleshooting activities.
Collaborate with BD internal organizations and stakeholders to ensure seamless flow of information relevant to the project.
Maintain high-level of knowledge of BDs product portfolio and technical solutions with a specific focus on the BD Rhapsody single cell solution portfolio and stay open to self-train on topics relevant to the respective project
Feedback customer learnings internally to Sales and Marketing, including incident/customer complaint reporting.
Make recommendations for improvements of the BD products, workflows and applications based on users’ feedbacks and needs.
This European role requires a self-driven, entrepreneurial and highly motivated team player with technical skills either with Flow equipment and/or with BD Rhapsody Single Cell Analysis and proven troubleshooting competencies. You have a degree in any natural science and a PhD or adequate business experience.
Solid knowledge across the BD Biosciences product portfolio with a specific focus on single-cell RNA-Seq and a good understanding of workflows and needs relevant for projects in translational research.
Being the scientific partner of choice, the Field Application Scientist is expected to establish a collaborative relationship with the customers and help them to achieve optimal results.
Working as an interface between customer and relevant organizations and stakeholders within BD, this position requires excellent communication and networking skills.
The successful applicant should preferably be located in GSA or UK due to high presence of key customers in that area
Fluent English skills, German or French is beneficial
