This is a hybrid positon and you will be required to work in the office two days per week.

About the role
The IDS Product Manager Microbiology – is a vital member of the marketing function within IDS and acts as a product champion to the IDS UK & Ireland team. Building and implementing the portfolio strategy to achieve growth targets set by the business will be key whilst aligning to the overall execution of the marketing plan.
The Product Manager will work closely with the Head of Marketing to ensure relevant, differentiated messages support the product portfolio offered by BD. Adjacent space identification and growth opportunities will be analysed, prioritized, and profitably targeted to ensure commercial objectives completed. Supply Chain optimisation and availability of portfolio for all customer segments, will require the role to interact and work closely with EU supply chain counterparts and UKI supply chain leaders.
Main responsibilities will include:
To ‘own’ the product range of BD microbiology portfolio, to be the subject matter expert for this range, including collecting, analyse and consolidate market insights to build country plans and help define portfolio strategy;
Design, develop, execute and monitor marketing plans to ensure successful delivery of marketing strategy, and commercial goals.
Leverage campaigns to improve field-based resource activities across: Sales team, and the Professional services team
Manage the given portfolio and supply chain to ensure clarity at field sales on focus, and delivery of product to meet customer needs.
Support & where appropriate deliver product training programs;
Management and resolution of product issues/challenges as necessary including direct customer contact;
Business development
Map business opportunities, through segmenting the market
Develop scenarios, business cases to identify and validate opportunities for given portfolio;
Deliver tools to support product and competitor functional and financial comparison;
Contribute to the development of business model (budget, ASR, strategic planning and review) for defined portfolio;
Build and develop KOL network to relay BD’s value proposition;
Engage in product review discussions to influence BU strategy.
Help develop strategy and tactics with management team to influence macro trends and drive marketing plan implementation;
Work with Head of Marketing and European marketing to influence regional strategy and ensure local country implementation;
Support the field sales and professional services in delivering our value proposition, via educational, materials & face to face training;
Deliver copy, visual and advertising to support our value proposition in appropriate journals, on line etc.
Go to market – marketing collaterals & project delivery
Define and analyse buying process, segmentation and targeting;
Define localised and offer development and tools to support this (competitive analysis and profiling, product benefit analysis, product positioning and positioning statement) in line with marketing strategy;
Create tactics with a critical view on return on investment;
Accountable for the development and the execution of country marketing plan;
Accountable for compliance and ensuring that all locally produced marketing materials are Copy-Approved by the Regional functions;
Responsible for ensuring the country marketing budget is utilised effectively to support marketing strategy (PR, sponsoring, donation, customer-facing events, etc.).
Pricing management
Lead the marketing input to national/hospital tenders. Review and supervise competitor pricing and make recommendations on changes to strategy to ensure both competitiveness and also profitability;
Make changes where applicable and ensure compliance with guidelines.
Marketing communication
Be the point of reference in terms of product and therapy area expertise at country or appropriate International level;
Remain up-to-date as regards marketing trends and literature relating to key strategic growth drivers.
Identify local profitable events, congresses and target KOL;
Work collaboratively with sales and marketing from other BD businesses on joint projects.
Marketing management
Define and build metrics to measure success and return on investment of campaigns and key events: meetings, exhibitions etc.
Contributes to promotional spend and financial budgeting, forecasting in close collaboration alongside Market Solutions & Access Manager and business operations;
Guide the UK management team, support sales force, and engage in budget and strategic reviews;
About you
Educated to degree level preferably in a life-science related subject area or relevant clinical experience
Strong marketing experience in a previous role at least at Product Manager level associated with a recognised qualification in Marketing (CIM or other equivalent institution)
Sales experience, preferably in the healthcare industry (Pharma, Medical Device, Diagnostics, Biotech, Consumer Health)
Cultural fit will be critical, with emphasis on the drive to succeed as well as strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to build strong coalitions and influence key stakeholders (Sales Leaders in the region, members of the European Marketing team, and cross-business unit Marketing teams), to leverage their strengths to drive growth, will also be the key to success.
