The Strategic Customer Director (SCD) serves as BD’s focal representative with targeted Strategic Accounts and key influential stakeholders and organizations. The SCD is accountable for developing strategic relationships in their target accounts and region (territory), in addition to developing Strategic Account and Regional stakeholder plans that incorporate and leverage the appropriate BD resources to address customer needs and create long term and sustainable goals and partnerships. The SCD will work closely with the local sales and HQ teams to support initiatives requiring key account coordination, communicate industry trends, and to connect with industry leaders.

Acting as provincial expert and leading a cross functional team of sales associates serving ONE BD value propositions the SCD will develop long-term customer strategies that leverage BD products, services and people that deliver an excellent customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding of current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information effecting his/her business and organization.

  • Develops and maintains a high level of regional /national knowledge of relevant provincial health reforms, policies and funding trends in support of key business unit objectives (opportunities or threats).

  • Understands priorities, strategies, and key value propositions of all BD business units and integrates them into customer development plan strategies and presentations that leverage the portfolio as a supportive solution to customer’s goals and priorities.

  • Maintains a continuous loop of knowledge sharing between customer and company to enable delivery of tightly focused, directly aligned solutions

  • Develops key regional strategies through bold and strategic approaches to demonstrate true financial and outcomes to key influencers and decision makers

  • Leads regional stakeholder engagement strategy developing and maintaining trusted relationships

  • Lead in a matrix to bring teams together for customer impact.

  • Coordinates and collaborates with the local and HQ team to address customer and market requirements through strategic business planning and sales execution

  • Builds strong relationships and positions BD’s strategic value proposition with senior level decision makers and influencers within the Strategic Customer Group.

  • Drives competitive distinction through an integrated BD approach

  • Mobilizes BD to respond to our customer problems and opportunities through building a strong account-focused team.

  • Proven ability to influence to government level an asset

  • Aligns to key regional organization to demonstrate BD brand relevance

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years in healthcare or related industry (Pharma, Med Device)

  • Bilingual French is an asset

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA would be considered a strong asset

  • Track record of sales success at large account level, positioning business cases and tools to accelerate growth

  • Strong healthcare and business acumen coupled with a high level analytical capability

  • Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)

  • Proven ability to build strong Customer Relationships

  • Robust ability to think strategically, while maintaining keen awareness to aligned tactics and execution

  • Able to position BD's offering to support customer's goals

  • Sales Management and/or Product Management experience and asset

  • Fundamental knowledge of basic principles of management and business administration.

  • Regional Healthcare subject matter expert

  • Key engagement within regional networks, committees and associations

  • Evolving talent within regional account team with skill build and stretch capabilities
