Chemicals Expert (temporary replacement contract)

We are looking for professionals with experience in chemicals hazard assessment and a strong interest in chemicals legislation. Your main role will be to manage chemical substance data in SAP EHS including review and update of the data provided by the third party. You will be also responsible for identifying chemicals of high concern and provide input on safer alternatives. You will join an established Chemicals Center of Excellence Team. The function in our Shared Service Centre works in close collaboration with other functions, e.g. SDS Authors, EHS, material scientists and other business contacts. This is a fantastic opportunity for a person from the chemicals industry to move into a different industry and to expand your knowledge through working in medical device company. This offers a position with opportunity to work in international environment and develop knowledge on global requirements.

Main objective of the role:

  • Managing substance master data in SAP-EHS module (Environmental Health & Safety) including toxicological, ecotoxicological and physical-chemical properties data;

  • Initiate, manage and provide input to substance (re)classification process and its impact on a product level (according to GHS/CLP classification rules);

  • Coordinates creation and maintenance of substance data required for compliance to chemical and hazard communication regulations relevant to BD;

  • Review and maintenance of Materials of Concern list(s);

  • Chemicals screening of materials and substances present in BD raw materials, process materials and finished products;

  • Support to SDS Authors in SDS creation process;

Requirements:

  • University degree within Chemistry, Biology, HSE or Life Sciences

  • Previous work experience in chemical, pharmaceutical or medical device company

  • Strong chemistry background coupled with Product Stewardship experience

  • Familiar with the hazard classification process, understanding the difference between Substance and Mixtures, their breakdown and classification according to global regulations

  • At least brief experience in reviewing toxicology/ecotoxicology and related chemical safety data

  • Experience in SDS authoring will be a plus

  • Can work independently and within virtual teams

  • Feels ease in working in with ERP systems

  • Excellent analytical and excel skills, managing large amounts of data and interpreting

  • Fluent command of English language and good written communication skills
