The Procurement Manager Facilities & Utilities is an EMEA regional category management role, responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate and market-leading sourcing strategies. The Procurement Manager will make a critical contribution to the growth and performance of the EMEA-based BD operations.

Reporting to the Associate Director Plant Indirect EMEA, this person is responsible for collaborating with the Global Category Manager in the development of Global Sourcing Strategies, as well as the development of strategies where appropriate. It is the responsibility of this person to ensure the successful implementation of strategies in the region and projects. Implementation commonly covers procurement aspects of supplier qualification, bidding & supplier selection, negotiation, and contract execution.

She/he is responsible for ensuring the appropriate strategies are developed in time to support the successful delivery and optimum operations of BDs EMEA facilities.

BD has more than sixty EMEA locations and cover medical technology manufacturing, supply chain, R&D and corporate offices in more than thirty countries.

The Manager is responsible for achieving savings targets in assigned categories and for developing value plans for the assigned supply base including Supplier Relationship Management and compliance activities.

The successful candidate is responsible for managing complex relationships with internal senior partners and handles a wide range of two-way communications. Close collaboration with the Global Category Manager and Category Manager peers is also essential.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the Global Category Manager about Global Sourcing Strategies, as well as the development of Regional and Local Strategies where appropriate.

  • Successful implementation of all Procurement strategies in the EMEA region and the corresponding projects.

  • Executes responsibilities with a large degree of autonomy, requiring minimal day-to-day oversight by immediate supervisor.

  • Develops and maintains active communication with key internal and external partners.

We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in a multi-national corporate environment, of which minimum of 3 years in a strategic sourcing or category management role. Understanding of procurement within the Facilities/ utilities industry is desirable.

  • Passion to inspire change in a dynamic, growing business environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field

  • CIPS qualified or equivalent.

  • Solid understanding of Source-to-procure process and proficiency in applying associated sourcing tools and techniques

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in fluent English.

  • Mobility for future career development in BD would be an asset

  • Methodical and organized

  • Category management, category strategy development and implementation planning and Supplier Relationship Management

  • Project management skills

  • Quantitative and financial analytic skills with ability to solve complex problems and use good judgement
