BD is seeking a full-time employee within the Supply Chain Procurement function to support global transportation and warehousing procurement strategies that reduce cost, ensure continuity of supply, and meet BD’s quality requirements.

The need for this resource has been generated by BD’s organic growth and recent acquisitions. BD’s global warehousing and transportation spend now exceeds $700M per year with a robust category strategy and established supply base in most areas. BD’s size, growth and market complexity requires an additional headcount to provide actionable insights from the reporting, data intelligence and analytics associated to Supply Chain procurement function. To support Global Category Managers and Regional Procurement Managers to develop category strategies, support supplier management efforts, support the establishment of new transportation business and contracts, spend governance and strong analytical skills for ad hoc projects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Sourcing support: Support / Execute ad hoc bids and/or RFQ’s for new transportation/warehousing ad hoc business. Identify suppliers with capabilities to support BD’s network and strategy. Knowledge and experience on how to calculate small parcel, FTL, LTL, Heavyweight Air and Ocean price quotes / experience with e-sourcing tools and bid analysis across each of these commodities is highly desirable.

  • Support with development of Category Strategy, Benchmarking / Should Cost Modeling: Support transportation and warehousing strategy development / help execute RFPs. Gather and organize external transportation and warehousing benchmarks by region and commodity. Partner with supply chain and category teams to ensure benchmarks are incorporated into category strategies as appropriate. Knowledge and experience with tools such as Xeneta, Drewry, TAC index, DAT solutions or Chainalytics are desirable.

  • Manage Spend Analytics: Generating, evaluating and reporting of opportunities using Spend and Savings Procurement systems (Sievo). Ensure accurate and complete mapping of spend/savings projections and analytics efforts to accurately classify mainly Transportation and Warehousing spend.Support spend analytics efforts to accurately classify BD’s transportation and warehousing spend in our Sievo spend analytics tool. Experience with spend analytics tools, methodologies and spend governance in a large, multi-ERP setting is desirable.

  • Contracting support: Facilitate supplier contracting activities as needed. Establish and monitor supplier agreements, under guidance of regional procurement and global category managers. Assist in driving global contract converage and a regular review of key contracts for all key suppliers. Knowledge and experience of Icertis or other contract tools is desirable. Knowledge and experience with MSAs, SOWs, tariffs and contracting experience across supply chain categories is desirable.

  • Operations support: Gather Fuel index data and calculate monthly/quarterly Fuel adjustments according to BD’s fuel methodology and communicate to internal stakeholders and extrernal suppliers on a monthly basis.

  • Rate Management: Communicate rates and contracts to 3rd party freight payment company. Support with management of internal contract management tool. Assist to drive continuous improvement actions into underlying BD and supplier processes to improve freight audit metrics. Knowledge and experience of freight audit standards and processes is desirable.

  • Supplier Performance Management : Partner with Supply Chain and Procurmenet stakeholders to develop supplier performance metrics and data methodologies to monitor and remediate supplier performacne issues through continuous improvement programs. Work closely with internal stakeholders and large suppliers to develop supplier performance “playbooks” that empower the business to easily navigate supply chain and supplier organizations to quickly address challenges as they arise. Experience in managing performance KPIs through supply chain control tower or electronic data feeds > optimized supplier performance metrics is desirable.

  • Supplier Relationship Management: Partner with incumbent suppliers within our preferred network to rebalance existing transportation business to optimize our cost profile and overall customer experience. Knowledge and experience with executing SRM programs with key suppliers is desirable.

  • Risk Management: Support the continual development and implementation of risk management efforts across BD’s supply base across 12-16 risk domains including single / sole source supplier risk, financial solvency, pandemic preparedness, Quality risks, etc. Knowledge and experience in managing supplier risks across multiple risk domains is desirable.


  • Experience executing small parcel, FTL, LTL, Heavyweight Air and Ocean price quotes/RFPs. Experience with e-sourcing tools and bid analysis across each of these commodities

  • 3-6 years experience in Transportation/warehousing procurement (Over the Road, Small Parcel, Warehousing, Air and Ocean categories). Knowledge of markets, terminology and operating standards.

  • Experience working in a large multi-cultural corporate environment with a strong respect for the value of diverse perspectives

  • Strong desire to develop and improve their supply chain procurement and category domain knowledge

  • Ability to be a self starter in a virtual / global work environment supporting stakeholders across many time zones with a strong sense of internal customer service.

  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to develop trust with internal stakeholders that your analysis and work is timely, thorough and professionally delivered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or related business discipline.

  • Strong analytical abilities, problem solving skills and the ability to assess large volume of data and develop concise summaries and assessments to determine a plan forward.
